LIBRARY

Vision

Recognizing the diversity of individual abilities and interests, VRS views learners as active participants in education who gain satisfaction from the dynamics of learning. The Library is the activity centre for learning at VRS. The Library supports all classes and curriculums at VRS in creating students that are self-motivated, self directed problem-solvers. In partnership with the Library, the student derives a sense of self-worth and confidence.

Mission

Teaching and learning are based on a process of continual interaction in which the library, teacher and student are partners. Since resources are the beginning point for concrete experiential learning, the library aims to

  • provide access to a wide variety of print and non print learning resources that have been carefully selected with the educational needs and different curriculum that are being used at our school
  • communicate to teachers about all resources available in the library and to work with them in the selection of new resources
  • to organize, administer, and ensure appropriate use of facilities

As the resource collection is organized for use by students and staff, it is cataloged and arranged in a logical manner. Hence our librarians

  • provide access to a wide variety of print and non print learning resources that have been carefully selected with the educational needs and different curriculum that are being used at our school
  • cooperate with teachers to develop sequential programs for teaching these skills
  • promote skills that contribute to self-reliance in students that helps them become self directed life-long learners.
